Dr. Rebecca Aponte
Rebecca Aponte earned a master’s degree and doctorate in counseling psychology from Colorado State University and completed the predoctoral internship in clinical psychology at Atascadero State Hospital. Specializing primarily in psychological and psycholegal assessment, she has substantial experience evaluating such domains as cognitive/intellectual functioning, attention, memory, academic/vocational skills, personality, psychopathology, and social skills. She has provided therapy and assessment services in outpatient private practice, counseling centers, and the California State Hospital system. Her forensic evaluation experience includes competence for trial, criminal responsibility, sexual recidivism risk, and violence risk. She regularly provides expert witness testimony regarding mental status at the time of criminal offense, and future risk for violence. Dr. Aponte has been licensed by the State of California since 2018 (PSY 30194).
